Now, NVIDIA and Epic Games have teamed up to beat the ban by offering a solution that will let you play the latest version of Fortnite on your iPhone and iPad. The solution relies on NVIDIA’s cloud gaming service, called GeForce NOW, which will stream Fortnite to your iPhone or iPad through the Safari web browser.
While there's still no word on when exactly the Fortnite app will be available again for iOS players, Epic Games partnered with Nvidia to create a streaming version of the game that could be played through its GeForce Now service. The cloud gaming service allows subscribers to use almost any device of their choosing (so long as it has web support) to stream an entire library of games.
GeForce Now is a game streaming service that streams games off high-end PC rigs. There's a free membership option that allows one-hour sessions of gameplay streamed from a basic PC rig. Then, there's Priority membership, which allows up to six-hour sessions of streamed gameplay from a high-end, RTX-enabled PC rig for $100 a year. Finally, there's the RTX 3080 membership, which allows eight hours of gameplay at a time, streamed off an RTX 3080 rig, for $200 a year. Fortnite's return to iOS is only available through GeForce Now and any of these membership options.
This will be a limited-time, closed beta for mobile devices only. So you need to sign up and join the waitlist on the NVIDIA website if you’re interested. If you do not have a GeForce NOW account, you can create one for free, and you will be eligible to participate in the beta. Members will be admitted to the beta in batches. Paid-up members will however receive priority access.
If you receive notification that you've been taken off the waitlist, you'll be able to stream the mobile version of Fortnite through your iOS device's Safari browser.
While this may seem tedious, this process gets players one step closer to being able to play Fortnite on mobile again.
